Center for Innovative Learning

The Center for Innovative Learning (CIL) provides strategic leadership and support for excellence in teaching and learning.  Through commitment to innovation and continuous improvement, the Center for Innovative Learning plays a central role in supporting the college’s academic mission and student success. Support includes: pedagogical innovation, instructional design, technology integration, assessment of teaching effectiveness, and faculty professional development.

By offering individualized consultations, collaborative programming, and ongoing professional development, CIL empowers faculty to enhance their teaching practices and course design across all instructional modalities. Whether refining an existing course or developing a new one, faculty benefit from expertise that bridges evidence-based pedagogy with effective use of instructional technology.

CIL supports the development of high-quality online programs by embedding effective teaching and learning practices from the ground up. This includes a robust internal peer review of online courses based on the Quality Matters rubric. This ensures that assessment, alignment, and instructional quality remain at the core of the ACPHS educational experience.

I support faculty in designing high-quality learning experiences across all instructional modalities. I have been working in education since 2006 in both higher education and K–12 public schools. Before joining ACPHS, I spent six years as an instructional technologist at Germanna Community College, where I continue to teach online communications courses.

My work is driven by a passion for authentic, learner-centered teaching and the meaningful integration of technology to enhance student engagement and success. I enjoy collaborating with faculty to apply research-based teaching strategies, experiment with emerging tools like AI, and cultivate strong instructor presence in digital spaces.
