Panopto, a powerful video platform that can significantly enhance your teaching and student engagement.

What is Panopto? Panopto is a versatile video management and lecture capture tool designed to make recording, sharing, and managing video content seamless and efficient. Whether you're looking to record lectures, create instructional videos, or capture student presentations, Panopto offers a range of features to support your teaching needs.

How to access it? https://acphs.hosted.panopto.com/ Sign in using Canvas from the drop-down and your SSO username and password. You can also access it through any Canvas Course (Settings>Navigation>enable Panopto>Save)

Embedding Panopto Videos in Canvas

Adding a Video to Your Canvas Course

  1. Open a course in Canvas.
  2. You may embed a Panopto video anywhere in the course where you have access to the text editor (such as Pages, Announcements, or Discussions). Navigate to the area where you would like to embed a video and choose to make a new item or edit an existing item.
  3. Click on the icon for More External Tools in the Rich Text Editor and choose Panopto Video.
  4. A new page will open and allow you to choose an existing video, upload new content, or record with the Panopto for Windows or Mac client.

Choose an Existing Recording

  1. To choose an existing recording, browse or search through your available folders. Select the video to embed.
  2. Note: You can embed a video from any of your Panopto folders, and when students click on it, they'll be able to watch it.
  3. Choose your embedded player preferences under Video Embed Options. The default options are fine for almost all videos. Then, select Insert. 
  4. The video will be embedded into the new item.

Create a New Recording

  1. Use the Record option to create a recording on the fly and embed it directly in your Canvas item
  2. If you do not have the Panopto for Windows or Mac client installed, please locate the Click here to download link to do so.
  3. To begin a new recording, give the recording a descriptive name and click Record. This will launch the Panopto software and automatically sign you in, and the folder will default to the course that you were building in Canvas
  4. When the Panopto software opens, you'll be able to select your camera, microphone, slides, and which screens you'd like to record. Note: For more information, please see the Recording Documentation on the Panopto Support site.
  5. Once you have finished recording, choose your embedded player preferences under Video Embed Options (or leave the as the default.) Then, select Insert.
