In 2017, ACPHS Library Services changed its search system to a product called WorldCat Discovery allowing for better and more thorough searching of our library resources and material from libraries around the world.
Discovery lets you search for print books, e-books, articles from scholarly journals and magazine and other sources all at the same time. Think of it as a one-stop shop for your research needs where you can not only search the ACPHS Library Catalog, and our research databases, but also worldwide library catalogs in a single search.
Discovery is a great tool for students to get started searching, discovering and accessing relevant and credible library sources on any topic.
Discovery searches print books, physically located in the Albany or Vermont library, electronic books, our journal collection, articles from most of our databases, media, and material from other libraries worldwide that you can request through interlibrary loan.
You have two options for accessing Discovery. You can start at the Library homepage or link directly to Discovery
Choose Advanced Search for more searching options
When you do a basic keyword search, you usually will retrieve a large number of results. You can limit the results list by "filters" such as library (ACPHS), format (print book, ebook, article), year of publication and more.
These filters can be selected in the left column of the results screen.
Searching Discovery is not meant to replace database searching and some of the databases the library subscribes to are not included (Oxford Art Online, Web of Science and the Drug Information databases)
If you need to search a specific database, select the database from the drop down menu under the Discovery search box on our homepage.
Discovery is supported by all modern web browsers and mobile devices.
