Interlibrary Loan: ILLiad

ILL FAQs

How do I register for an ILLiad account?
Visit the Libraries' Homepage. Click the Services tab, choose Interlibrary Loan, and click on Log in to ILLiad. Use your ACPHS network username and password (the one used for Canvas) to logon and start placing requests.

How do I know if an article or loan is available in the ACPHS collection?
If you see the link in PubMed, clicking this button will open a page with a link to the article/journal, or it will indicate an ILL request needs to be made. Searching for a loan via the ACPHS Libraries' catalog, Discovery, you will be able to see if the Library owns the item and whether or not it is available or checked out.

You can also search the article title in Google Scholar to see if a free, full-text copy is available.

How do I place a request in ILLiad?
Logon to your ILLiad account, and choose the request type (article, book, etc.) under the New Request menu. The more citation information you provide us, especially if a PMID is available, the quicker we can process your request!

How long after I request an article will I receive it?
Articles are usually received within one to three business days, but it may take longer depending on the availability of the article.

How long after I request a loan (book, media, etc.) will I receive it?
Loans are usually received within one to two weeks, but it may take longer depending on the availability of the loan.

How do I know the status of my request?
Logon to your ILLiad account, and click on Outstanding Requests under the View menu. Statuses of requests are shown under Status in the upper right. For example, Request Sent means we have sent the request off to lending libraries, not that the request has been sent to your account.

How will I know my ILL is ready for me to view online, or be picked up in the Library?
You will receive an email from the ILL Staff letting you know your article or loan is available for viewing or pickup. Articles are typically sent to your ILLiad account in the form of a PDF. Loans can be picked up at the Library User Services Desk or sent via interoffice mail for faculty, staff, and administration.

How do I access the PDF of my article?
Logon to your ILLiad account, and click on Electronically Received Articles under the View menu. Click the Transaction Number of the article you want to view, and the PDF will open. NOTE: Any PDFs you do not save will no longer be available in your ILLiad account after 60 days.

Can I cancel a request after I have submitted it in ILLiad?
If the status of the request says Request Sent, then the request has been sent to other libraries, and you cannot cancel it. Please contact the ILL Staff to see if they can cancel the request for you. Otherwise, click on Outstanding Requests under the View menu. At the top of the page under Outstanding Requests, click on the Transaction Number of the request you would like to cancel. Click Cancel Request, and the Transaction Number just cancelled should no longer appear under Outstanding Requests.

How do I request a renewal for a loan?
Logon to your ILLiad account, and click on Checked Out Items/Renew Items under the View menu. Open the loan request by clicking on the Transaction Number of the request you would like to renew. If you are allowed a renewal on this item, click Renew Request at the top of the page. Your requested renewal date, and any other renewal messages for this item, will appear at the top of the page. The ILL Staff will process the renewal request. You will receive an email notification letting you know if the renewal request has been accepted, denied, or if the renewal date granted is different from the requested renewal date. NOTE: You have until the day the item is due to request a renewal.

What do I do if I forget my username/password?
Contact the ILL Staff at ill@acphs.edu, and we will email you your username and reset password.
