The LactMed database contains information on drugs and other chemicals to which breastfeeding mothers may be exposed. It includes information on the levels of such substances in breast milk and infant blood, and the possible adverse effects in the nursing infant. Suggested therapeutic alternatives to those drugs are provided, where appropriate. All data are derived from the scientific literature and fully referenced.

Founded in 1989, The North American Menopause Society (NAMS) is North America's leading nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting the health and quality of life of all women during midlife and beyond through an understanding of menopause and healthy aging. Its multidisciplinary membership of 2,000 leaders in the field – including clinical and basic science experts are from medicine, nursing, sociology, psychology, nutrition, anthropology, epidemiology, pharmacy, and educational fields.

The Office of Research on Women's Health (ORWH) ensures that research conducted and supported by the NIH adequately addresses issues regarding women's health. ORWH stimulates and encourages basic and clinical research on the role of sex and gender in health and disease, and sets NIH research priorities in diseases, disorders, and conditions that primarily affect women.

The Organization of Teratology Information Specialists (OTIS) is the professional scientific society made up of the experts that provide the MotherToBaby service, and the researchers that perform the MotherToBaby pregnancy studies. OTIS was established in 1987 as a way of connecting world-renowned experts in the field of birth defects research to the general public. OTIS was incorporated in April 1999 as a nonprofit organization.

The Society for the Psychology of Women was established in 1973 as Division 35 of the APA. The society is devoted to providing an organizational base for all who are interested in teaching, research or practice in the psychology of women.
