Welcome

This guide is a work in progress and is by no means definitive. The resources presented here are included as a starting point to your explorations and action.

Please email me with any questions or suggestions to add to the subject guide. I would be happy to hear from you.

What is Responsible Conduct of Research?

NIH definition:  "responsible conduct of research is defined as the practice of scientific investigation with integrity. It involves the awareness and application of established professional norms and ethical principles in the performance of all activities related to scientific research."

ORI definition: "In general terms, responsible conduct in research is simply good citizenship applied to professional life. Researchers who report their work honestly, accurately, efficiently, and objectively are on the right road when it comes to responsible conduct. Anyone who is dishonest, knowingly reports inaccurate results, wastes funds, or allows personal bias to influence scientific findings is not.
